Diagnostic Labs opens locations at 2 Big Island hospitals
Today, Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc., the largest locally owned medical lab in Hawai‘i, opened an outpatient service center on the Kona Community Hospital campus.
The DLS ‘Ohana Cottage is open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 79-1019 Haukapila St. They will be closed for lunch from 11 a.m. to noon daily.
Diagnostic Labs also launched an outpatient service center at Kohala Hospital. This location will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. It can be found at 54-383 Hospital Rd. in Kohala.
The new lab sites are now available to patients with doctor’s orders for laboratory testing.
“We are excited to be growing our presence on Hawaiʻi Island and improving access to top quality laboratory services to the people of Kona and Kohala,” says Mark Wasielewski, DLS President. “DLS is looking forward to welcoming new patients and deepening our roots in this beautiful community.”
Wasielewski has been living in Kona for the past three months and will continue to do so to ensure a successful launch.
“It is our mission to provide high-quality healthcare to the people of Hawaiʻi,” said Clayton McGhan, CEO of the West Hawaiʻi Region that includes Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital. “Our partnership with DLS allows us to fulfill that mission by giving our community a continuity of care from the lab to doctors to the hospital if needed because all can access lab results through our shared electronic medical records system.”
Diagnostic Labs and Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital, members of the Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation, officially launched their partnership, which was announced late last year. As of June 29, DLS is the onsite laboratory operator for these hospitals.
