Update: Reported standoff in Ka‘ū comes to end, road reopens

6:18 p.m. May 12 update: The Hawai‘i Police Department has completed investigative efforts at the top of Reef Parkway in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Subdivision.

It is unknown if there was an arrest made at this time. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Original post: Hawai‘i Island police cars line upper Reef Parkway in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates where a standoff with a reported armed suspect has been ongoing all day.

The Special Response Team responded as well as West Hawai‘i detectives.

It is unknown at this time how many people are in the residence.
