The County of Hawaiʻi will hold two free health fairs this month in recognition of National Public Health Week.

The fairs, which are scheduled for Apr. 9 and Apr. 10, have been planned for National Public Health Week, to be held throughout the country from Apr. 1 to Apr. 7, 2024, in an effort to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues important to improving our nation’s health.

The events are a partnership between the Hawaiʻi District Health Office, Hawaiʻi State Department of Health, and local community health partners, according to a statement from Cyrus A.K. Johnasen, a public information officer with the county on Mar. 25.

“The impacts of our public health providers are vital to the well-being of our residents,” said Mayor Mitch Roth in a statement. “It’s not just about treating illnesses; it’s about promoting wellness, preventing disease, and fostering a community where everyone can thrive. Our commitment to public health is a commitment to caring for each other and ensuring a healthier future for all.”
