Big Island coach accused of sexually assaulting student

A Muay Thai coach was indicted this week on charges of sexually assaulting one of his students between 2019 and 2022.

According to the indictment, Bryan Flores, 43-year-old of Puna, allegedly assaulted the teen, who was 13 at the time. The alleged abuse continued till 2022, which resulted in 12 counts of sexual assault.

Flores is facing five counts of first-degree sexual assault, which carries a penalty of a 20-year prison term.

The 43-year-old is also facing four counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree sexual assault and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.

Flores is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Hilo Circuit Court on this afternoon. He remains in custody in lieu of $370,000 bail.
