Young Brothers updates cargo availability as unfavorable ocean conditions continue

Shipping company Young Brothers is updating the public about its sailing schedule and cargo availability for the week as unfavorable weather and ocean conditions continue for the Hawaiian Islands.

The barge Kala‘enalu was able to safely enter the harbor and dock this morning. Cargo availability is as follows:

• Dry and refrigerated straightload containers: Upon notification.
• Refrigerated loose and palletized cargo: 8:30 a.m. today.
• Dry palletized and mixed cargo: 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
• Automobiles and roll-on roll-off cargo: Upon notification.

Because of the delayed arrival in Hilo, regularly scheduled Hilo to Honolulu sailing will now depart today and is estimated to arrive Wednesday in Honolulu. There are no changes to cargo acceptance or gate hours at the Port of Hilo.

Cargo availability in Honolulu is as follows:

• Dry and refrigerated straightload containers: Upon notification.
• Refrigerated loose and palletized cargo: 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
• Dry palletized and mixed cargo: 7:30 a.m. Friday.
• Automobiles and roll-on roll-off cargo: Upon notification.

Honolulu to Hilo sailing for today also is postponed. Upon the Wednesday arrival in Honolulu of the tug and barge from Hilo, the same tug will depart with Young Brothers barge Maka‘ala and arrive Friday in Hilo.

There are no changes to cargo acceptance and gate hours Thursday at the Port of Hilo. For customer convenience, the Port of Hilo will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday.

• Refrigerated loose and palletized cargo: 8:30 a.m. Friday.
• Dry palletized and mixed cargo: 7:30 a.m. Dec. 26.
• Automobiles and roll-on roll-off cargo: Upon notification.

Cargo departing Hilo on Friday will be available Dec. 26 in Honolulu.
