Hawai‘i Community College celebrates International Education Week

Hawai‘i Community College is celebrating International Education Week 2023 with free events at its Manono campus in Hilo and the public is invited to attend.

Irish Night on Nov. 15 is an opportunity to celebrate Irish culture through film and performance. The evening kicks off at 4:15 p.m. with an introduction from Dublin with Niamh Hamill of Study Ireland at Papa‘a Hale (Building 380).

A screening of “The Quiet Girl,” a film noteworthy for being the first Gaelic language film to receive an Academy Award nomination, will immediately follow. At 6:10 p.m., attendees can view “An Irish Goodbye,” an Academy Award winner for best short film.

The evening culminates with a spectacular Irish dance performance presented by Hawai‘i Irish Dance at 6:30 p.m.

Seating is limited. Those interested in attending one or more of the events should RSVP by clicking here.

At 4 p.m. Nov. 16, Indian culture will be celebrated with the screening of “RRR,” an epic period film that won an Academy Award for best original song and was nominated for a Golden Globe for best foreign language film. The film will be screened at Papa‘a Hale.

Pupus will be served both nights.
