Second annual Refillable Water Bottle Drive in Kona now through Aug. 31
The Kona Community Policing section, in partnership with Aloha Maps, has launched its second annual (Hydro) Flask Drive in Kona for West Hawai‘i schools and students in need.
New “hydro” flasks or refillable water bottles may be dropped off now through Aug. 31 at the Kona Police Station located at 74-611 Hale Mākaʻi Place in Kailua-Kona.
The water bottles will then be distributed to those schools and students most in need.
During the pandemic, many schools added water filling stations to prevent students from sharing the older style water drinking fountains, thus limiting the possibility of exposure.
Due to this change, many schools have added water bottles/”hydro” flasks to their school supply lists, which can be costly and not feasible for many families on a budget.
Last year nearly 400 flasks/refillable water bottles were donated and distributed as part of the inaugural Flask Drive.
Contribution to help a student and family in need is greatly appreciated by event organizers.
