Update: Mamalahoa Highway in South Kona due now open in both directions

Update at 10:30 a.m.: Mamalahoa Highway is now open in both directions.

Original post: One lane is closed on Mamalahoa Highway in South Kona on the Big Island due to a traffic accident near the 98 mile marker.

There is contraflow of traffic between Haleili and Waiea roads until about 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Hawaiʻi Island police said.
