Hawai’i Care Choices in Hilo will host a free Healthcare Talk Story on June 12.

The free Hawai’i Care Choices educational webinar will take place at 10 a.m. and aims to provide insights on preparing for natural disasters and tips to support community well-being and safety.

The event will feature Lani Weigert, Tish Lopez and special guest James DS. Barros, administrator of the Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency.

Barros, who collaborates with Major General Ken S. Hara of the U.S. Department of Defense, will provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes perspective on the state’s emergency management efforts.

Barros will shed light on the preparations, actions and aftermath of natural disasters, sharing firsthand knowledge of the factors that exacerbate their impact and offering practical suggestions to improve community resilience.

With a focus on community well-being and safety, this Healthcare Talk Story aims to empower individuals and communities to be better prepared and minimize the negative consequences on their lives and property.
