Crime Reduction Unit nabs five wanted individuals during operation in East Hawaiʻi

During the past week, the Hawai’i Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit in East Hawai’i arrested and charged five wanted individuals.

Thomas Matthew Kamakanaololua Kaho’oilihala, 25,  was charged with:

  • three warrants of arrest for violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance, or supervised release
  • first-degree bail jumping
  • first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle (UCPV)
  • first-degree theft
  • habitual property crime

Kaho’oilihala’s bail for the above charges was set at $95,000. Additionally, various other property crime related charges against Kaho’oilihala have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Christen K. Lee, 32, was charged with:

  • first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle (UCPV)
  • first-degree theft
  • DWOL – while license suspended or revoked

Lee’s bail was set at $36,000.     

Chad Kaleo Chamberlin Jr., 24, was charged with:

  • two-counts of probation violation – no bail
  • warrant of arrest for violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance, or supervised release

Chamberlin’s bail was set at $25,000.

Nicholas M. Cook, 37,  was charged with:  

  • probation violation – no bail
  • criminal contempt of court

Cook’s bail was set at $5,100.00

Cherish Anela Torres, 20, had an outstanding BOLO stemming from a domestic-related incident which occurred on May 23. She was charged with:

  • second-degree assault
  • felony abuse family household member
  • second-degree terroristic threatening

Torres’ bail was set at $3,500.

In addition to the listed individuals who were arrested, officers also recovered a stolen vehicle, and contacted numerous other individuals in relation to additional criminal cases currently under investigation, police said.
