The Department of Water Supply, County of Hawai‘i, is reminding its Makapala and ‘O‘ōkala customers that a Voluntary Water Conservation Notice for both residential and commercial accounts remains in effect until further notice.

The Voluntary Water Conservation Notice, in place since March 23, asks affected water
customers to reduce water use by 10% to help the water department maintain an adequate water supply and pressure for customers’ use while it continues making system repairs.

Water conservation is necessary due to the failure of the water system’s only well. The Department of Water Supply is working to bring the well back online as quickly as possible and asks for customers’ assistance to use water wisely and not waste it.
