Hawaiʻi Mushroom Festival returns to Kapaʻau April 15 & 16
The Second Annual Hawai’i Mushroom Festival will return to Starseed Ranch in Kapaʻau, offering agricultural education and community-building activities.
The festival will run April 15 and 16, with a “Farmily” 20% discount to all Hawaiʻi Institute of Pacific Agriculture followers. The discount code HIP20 can be used on the Eventbrite page for the festival.
This year’s festival features new programming and presenters, including experts on growing spawn and fungi art, and returning presenter Don Hemmes, author of Mushrooms of Hawai’i.
The festival also emphasizes mycoremediation, the use of fungi to clean up polluted water and soil, with four experts on the subject to be in attendance.
In addition, the festival will welcome visiting mycologists, including Alex Dorr, author and founder of Mushroom Revival, and Taye Bright, creator of various myco-endeavors.
Several food and art and craft vendors also will be present.
The Hawai’i Mushroom Festival has grown to become a popular event, drawing attendees from around the community to celebrate and learn about fungi.
