Flood advisory for East Hawaiʻi until 3 p.m. Tuesday
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for East Hawaiʻi until 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
At noon, radar indicated scattered downpours moving across portions of the South Hilo, Puna, and Kaʻu districts on the Big Island.
Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour in the heaviest showers. Movement of the individual showers was toward the west at about 25 miles an hour.
Some locations that will experience flooding include: Hawaiian Paradise Park, Volcano, Glenwood, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Mountain View, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidland Estates, Keaʻau, Wood Valley, Pāhoa, Pahala, Papaikou, Honomu, Hakalau and Ninole.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
