West Hawai‘i County Band announces 2023 concert schedule

The West Hawai‘i County Band has a full slate planned for next year and it invites the Big Island to come along for some great music.

The band, which performs monthly free concerts throughout the year, recently announced its 2023 schedule. Concerts are at 4 p.m. the third Sunday of each month at Hale Hālāwai County Park on Ali‘i Drive in Kailua-Kona, unless otherwise specified.

Dates, times and location can change because of the nature of musicians’ schedules. For the most current information, refer to the band’s website.

Here is the 2023 schedule:

  • Jan. 29.
  • Feb. 26.
  • April 2: The March concert will be presented on this date.
  • April 30.
  • May 28.
  • 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 23: Note different time and day of the week.
  • July 16.
  • Aug. 27.
  • Sept. 24.
  • Oct. 22.
  • Nov. 19.
  • Dec. 17.

The West Hawai‘i County Band is a community and civic band comprised of about 20 musicians from all walks of life. The band is supported in part by the Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation Department. The band’s repertoire includes march favorites, traditional brass band music, Big Band tunes, musical scores and Hawaiian traditional tunes.

The band rehearses weekly. In addition to the band’s monthly calendar, it can be heard at numerous parades and civic events throughout the year.
