Hawaiʻi’s national parks free on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The National Park Service will provide free admission on five dates in 2023 to two Hawaiʻi national parks on the Big Island: Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park. The free admission also applies to Haleakalā National Park on Maui.

In addition, the 2023 Tri-Park Pass is now available for purchase for $55. The pass provides a full year of admission the three Hawaiʻi national parks.

Other passes offered by the National Park Service include the annual $80 America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, which allows unlimited access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including all national parks. 

There are also free or discounted passes available for currently serving members of the U.S. military and their dependents, military veterans, Gold Star Families, fourth grade students, disabled citizens and senior citizens.
