Police Looking for Kidnapping Suspect
Police are looking for a man wanted in connection to kidnapping.
Duncan Kealoha Mahi, 52, is wanted for outstanding warrants and a kidnapping investigation, police said on Saturday. Mahi was last seen in downtown Hilo around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, operating a white Honda CRV, with the license plate ZAE959.
He is described as 5’11”, 215 pounds, brown eyes/brown hair, tattoos on both arms. If Mahi and/or vehicle is observed, people should call 911 as he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police issued the notice shortly after family of Mikella Lani Debina were reunited.
Debina, who was abducted at knifepoint by a shirtless man in construction boots with a T-shirt wrapped around his face that everything but his eyes, was rescued in Hilo Saturday after a scuffle with her captor outside a café drew the attention of a Good Samaritan, who intervened and helped put a harrowing end to what was a terrifying, unknown chapter for the community.
