COVID Weekly Update: 282 New Cases Reported on Big Island
The state Department of Health reported 2,219 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, Aug. 24, bringing the statewide total to 337,737. Thirteen new fatalities were reported.
A total of 282 new infections were reported Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 234,203
Hawaiʻi: 37,716
Maui: 38,471
Kaua‘i: 16,966
Moloka‘i: 1,216
Lana‘i: 779
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 8,386
There are currently 136 individuals hospitalized for the virus. At least 1,632 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
