A woman who escaped police custody earlier this week was apprehended this morning.

According to Hawai‘i police, Jenna Martin was found at a residence in Pāhoa. HPD officials say Martin attempted to elude capture a second time, but was ultimately located in the bushes behind the home and surrendered peacefully.

As of this afternoon, Martin was charged with second-degree escape and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. She remains in custody at the East Hawaii Detention Center and is slated to have her initial court appearance on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Martin was initially arrested on Monday, Aug. 15, for violation of a protection order and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
