PTA Announces August Training Schedule

Pōhakuloa Training Area notifies the public that they might hear military units during scheduled training events in August at the U.S. Army facility.

The dates and details of the planned training for August are:

  • Aug. 1-16: Hawai‘i Army National Guard training. Small arms and convoy live fire. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Aug. 16-18: Close air support live fire. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Aug. 22-28: Helicopter gunnery live fire. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.

Unmanned aircraft systems training also can occur 24 hours a day, seven days a week at PTA in the restricted airspace.

Training plans are subject to change based on safety, weather and other environmental factors.

Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations. Should people hear noise, there is no immediate danger.

There are no convoys planned for August. The public will be notified should any convoy requests be submitted. There also are no hunting opportunities planned for August.

The military appreciates the understanding and continued support of the Hawai‘i Island community.
