BISAC Summer Jam Event to Return For 8th Year

Get ready for a fun-filled day of activities for everyone in the family.

The Big Island Substance Abuse Council will host the eighth annual Summer Jam on July 30 at the Akook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.

“We will have a strong man and woman contest, a bus pull, keiki games and activities, health and fitness fair and an eat the street event,” BISAC CEO Dr. Hannah Preston-Pita said in a press release. “Our Summer Jam will have a little bit of everything for everyone.”

BISAC was recently awarded $9,000 from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs ‘Ahahui Grant Program to support the Summer Jam event.

“I would like to extend a heartfelt mahalo to OHA for their continuing support of BISAC and our Hawai’i Island community” Preston-Pita said in the press release. “Especially now more than ever, our community is in need of an event that will celebrate our community.

Since 1964, BISAC has inspired individuals and families to reclaim and enrich their lives in the wake of the ravages of substance abuse and mental health. The organization offers a continuum of services that are culturally appropriate and aligned with the ever-changing behavioral health field.
