Weekly Road Closures: July 2-8

The state Department of Transportation issued its weekly list of road and lane closures for July 2-8. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.

— KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEA‘AU

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 7, Ikaika Street and Keaau Loop, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder stabilization work.

2) KEA‘AU

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 6 and 8, Kipimana Street and Keaau 9 ½ mile, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) PĀHALA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 56 and 58, Nīnole Loop Road and Alanui Road, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

2) CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 93and 95, ‘Ohia Malu Road and Kukui ‘O Pae Place, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching and grass cutting.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 6 and 8, Ka‘aukai Place and Hanawi Street, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching, mowing, and shoulder work.

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, July 2 through Sunday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8,from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

3) HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph.

— KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD/ PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

2) KAMUELA

Right lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in the southbound direction near mile marker 5.6, in the vicinity of Saddle Road, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction of a new access road.

— ‘AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

1) KOHALA

Single lane closure on ‘Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 2and 7, Kaewa Place and Ka‘ala Road, on Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work, tree trimming, and general landscaping.
