Animal rescue group Friends of Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue will host a craft fair and fundraiser next month in an effort to raise funds.

The event, Cause for Paws, is scheduled for July 9 at Waiākea High School gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pets are not allowed at the event due to venue restrictions.

Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue, or AIR, was founded in 2010 in response to the overpopulation, neglect and abuse of dogs on the Big Island.

“Funded almost entirely by community support, AIR has grown from rehoming less than 200 dogs/year to finding amazing homes, transporting to mainland partners and providing services for over a thousand dogs a year,” the organization stated.

July’s event will include a craft fair, food vendors as well as a raffle/silent auction.

AIR works within the Big Island community and continues to provide food, spay/neuter services and medical care to dogs (in houseless communities as well) who are struggling.
