Weekly COVID Update: 718 New Cases Confirmed on Big Island

The state Department of Health reported 5,768 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, May 11, bringing the statewide total to 258,422. Six new fatalities were reported.

A total of 718 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 178,469
Hawaiʻi: 28,425
Maui: 30,728
Kaua‘i: 12,864
Moloka‘i: 1,017
Lana‘i: 706
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 6,663

Of those total cases, 8,811 required hospitalization, with 66 currently hospitalized. At least 1,434 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
