Weekly COVID Update: 565 New Cases Reported on Big Island
The state Department of Health reported 4,249 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, May 4, bringing the statewide total to 252,654. Ten new fatalities were reported.
A total of 565 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 174,618
Hawaiʻi: 27,707
Maui: 29,662
Kaua‘i: 12,473
Moloka‘i: 977
Lana‘i: 673
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 6,544
Of those total cases, 8,726 required hospitalization, with 51 currently hospitalized. At least 1,428 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
