Weekly COVID Update: Nearly 500 New Cases Reported on Big Island
The state Department of Health reported 3,370 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, April 27, bringing the statewide total to 248,405. Eleven new fatalities were reported.
A total of 491 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
- O‘ahu: 171,763
- Hawaiʻi: 27,142
- Maui: 29,194
- Kaua‘i: 12,240
- Moloka‘i: 968
- Lana‘i: 648
- Pending: 0
- Out-of-State: 6,450
Of those total cases, 8,650 required hospitalization, with 36 currently hospitalized. At least 1,418 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
