The county Department of Public Works continues efforts to clarify and streamline the building permit process and is offering a new version of its residential photovoltaic system worksheet.

According to a news release, DPW is taking another step toward that goal by issuing an updated Residential PV Worksheet & Declaration of Compliance Form.

The form should be completed and submitted by property owners or an owner’s authorized agent using a pre-approved photovoltaic system. This form shall include the structural engineer stamped railing system and related span tables as provided by the railing manufacturer.

This form is to be attached to a residential PV building permit application submitted to the county’s EPIC System. Electrical drawings certified by a Hawai‘i licensed electrical engineer will still be required. These drawings shall include applicable site plans and mounting details.
