HFS Federal Credit Union Scholarship Application Now Open

High school seniors in the graduating class of 2022 and existing college students are now eligible to apply for an HFS Federal Credit Union scholarship.

The credit union will be awarding a total of $25,000 to selected students. Seven Big Island high school seniors and three college students will be awarded scholarships of $2,500 each.

“The Credit Union is proud to support these young minds that will be the future leaders of the Big Island community and members of the workforce,” HFS stated in a press release.

The HFS FCU Scholarship program began 10 years ago and, since then, has awarded over $177,000 in scholarships that has helped over 70 student members with their college expenses.

Student members of HFS pursuing higher education full-time at an accredited two- or four-year vocational-technical school, college or university in the 2022-23 academic year are eligible to apply. Recipients will be selected based on a variety of criteria, including academic performance, achievements and community service.

Previous scholarship recipients have gone on to study in fields such as education, law, automotive mechanics, fire science, art and more.

For a complete list of requirements and to apply students may visit hfsfcu.org or inquire with their high school counselors. Completed applications with supporting documents must be submitted online no later than Monday, Feb. 28, 2022.
