Over 1,500 New COVID Cases Reported Statewide

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 1,511 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 96,765. Three new COVID-related fatalities were reported.

A total of 66 new infections were identified on the Big Island. Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reports 295 active cases, and four persons hospitalized.

The state’s daily case average is now 888, with a test positivity rate of 8.1%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 67,096
Hawaiʻi: 12,154
Maui: 10,559
Kaua‘i: 3,422
Moloka‘i: 261
Lana‘i: 154
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 3,119

A total of 5,202 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 1,077 have died.
