189 New Cases, 8 Deaths Reported

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 189 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 89,014. Eight new COVID-related fatalities were reported.

A total of 10 new infections were identified on the Big Island. The Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reported 137 active cases and five persons hospitalized.

The state’s seven-day average is now 108 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.6%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 60,356
Hawai‘i: 11,843
Maui: 10,164
Kaua‘i: 3,256
Moloka‘i: 252
Lana‘i: 145
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,998

A total of 5,112 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 1,053 have died.
