Hawaiian Electric restored power for more than 2,200 Hawaii Island customers as of this afternoon with approximately 950 outages still remaining, mainly in the Puna and Kona areas.

Most of the outages that have already been identified should be restored today. Any additional outages identified during assessments today will be addressed by Friday, Dec. 10, if not sooner, with full restoration expected by noon on Saturday, Dec. 11. This does not include customers who have damage on their property that would need to be repaired before crews can restore electricity, officials stated.

Work today will focus on Eden Roc Estates, Leilani Estates, Nanawale, Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Ainaloa, Kurtistown, Fern Acres, Volcano, Kailua, Kaloko, Holualoa, Captain Cook, Kealia, and Wood Valley.

About 3,000 Hawaiian Electric customers experienced an extended outage throughout the state following the Kona Low storm over the weekend that brought rain and high winds that felled trees and debris on power lines.
