Reported COVID-Related Deaths Approaches 1K Statewide

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 226 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 86,316. Seven new COVID-related fatalities were reported.

A total of 57 new infections were identified on the Big Island Thursday. Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reports 300 active cases, and seven persons hospitalized.

The state’s seven-day average is now 97 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.5%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 58,894
Hawai‘i: 11,492
Maui: 9,774
Kaua‘i: 2,936
Moloka‘i: 245
Lana‘i: 145
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,830

A total of 4,934 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 992 have died.
