Governor Releases $2,200,000 for Capital Improvement Projects

The Governor recently released $2,200,000.00 of capital improvement project funding (CIP) for projects in Waimea, Hawaiʻi to finance design improvements at Waimea Middle Public Conversion Charter School and to finance upgrades for the Kamuela Vacuum Cooling Plant on Hawaiʻi  Island. 

The CIP projects that received funding are as follows:

  • $300,000 to finance design for improvements at Waimea Middle Public Conversion Charter School to comply with current ADA standards.
  • $1,200,000 to finance construction to upgrade the electrical and telecommunication systems at Waimea Middle Public Conversion Charter School.
  • $700,000 to finance upgrades for the Kamuela Vacuum Cooling Plant on Hawaiʻi Island, demolition of a warehouse, and clearing of related environmental hazards.

“I’d like to thank Governor Ige for releasing funding to finance design improvements at Waimea Middle Public Conversion Charter School to comply with current ADA standards and to upgrade the electrical and telecommunications systems,” said Senator Lorraine Inouye (District 4 – Hilo, Hamakua, Kohala, Waimea, Waikoloa, Kona). “Upgrading school facilities to current ADA standards is crucial to ensuring that faculty, staff, and students have equal opportunities. . .”
