54 New COVID-19 Cases Reported on Hawaiʻi Island

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 304 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 80,886. Eight new COVID-related fatalities were reported.

A total of 54 new infections were identified on the Big Island Thursday. On Wednesday, the Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency reported 708 active cases, with 20 persons hospitalized.

The state’s two-week average is now 222 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 3.2%. A map documenting new cases by district across all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

A total of 4,444 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 826 have died.
