An Ocean View man is facing several charges stemming from an alleged vehicle theft.

Hawai‘i County police have arrested and charged 24-year-old Lane Turner following an incident that occurred on Monday, July 12. According to an HPD press release, Kona patrol officers were conducting patrols on Kaleiopapa Street in the area of the Keauhou Small Boat Harbor when they observed a white-colored Toyota Tacoma with an oversized red camper parked in the area. Officers then reportedly observed an adult male, later identified as Turner, seated in the driver’s seat. A check of the vehicle’s license plates revealed that it had been reported stolen from the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision between July 7 and July 8, 2021.

Turner was placed under arrest for two criminal contempt of court warrants and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. He was transported to the Kealakehe Police Station while detectives with the Area II Criminal Investigation Section continued their investigation.
