Big Island Identifies 30 New COVID Infections Friday
The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 78 new cases of coronavirus Friday. The statewide total is now 36,871. One new COVID-related death was reported.
Thirty new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Friday, much of which is tied to the ongoing outbreak at HCCC. The state’s two-week average is 51 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 0.9%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 26,660
Maui: 3,754
Hawai‘i: 3,024
Kaua‘i: 324
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 55
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,225
A total of 2,378 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 506 have died.
To date, a total of 1,592,739 vaccine doses have been administered statewide.
