DOH Reports 48 New COVID-19 Cases Statewide

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 48 new cases of coronavirus Saturday. The statewide total is now 36,124. One new COVID-related death was reported.

Eleven new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Saturday, per DOH statistics. The state’s two-week average is 41 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 0.8%.

The Department of Health is currently assisting the Public Safety Department with an outbreak at Hawai‘i Community Correctional Center where 71 inmates have now tested positive.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 26,329
Maui: 3,638
Hawai‘i: 2,821
Kaua‘i: 315
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 55
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,187

A total of 2,324 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 499 have died.
