COVID Averages Press Downward in Hawaii

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 34 new cases of coronavirus Monday. The statewide total is now 35,901. No new COVID-related deaths were reported.

Five new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Monday, per DOH statistics. The state’s two-week average is 58 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.1%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

Maui: 3,612
Hawai‘i: 2,790
Kaua‘i: 314
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 52
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,169

A total of 2,285 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 496 have died.

To date, a total of 1,463,440 shots of vaccine have been administered statewide.
