No Tsunami Threat to Hawaii Following Fiji Quake

There is no tsunami threat to the Hawaiian Islands following a large earthquake in the Pacific Ocean.

The quake occurred in the Fiji region and initially registered at a magnitude-6.8 on the Richter Scale.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, according to a report from the National Weather Service’s Tsunami Warning Center at Ewa Beach.
