Statewide COVID Totals Slowly Receding in Recent Days
The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 76 new cases of coronavirus Wednesday, raising the statewide total to 30,363. No new COVID-related deaths were reported.
Five new cases of the virus were identified on the Big Island Wednesday. A total of 66 cases have been reported in the greater Hilo area over the last two weeks, while at least 40 have been identified in the Kailua-Kona area during that same time period, according to a DOH map that tracks cases by district across all islands.
The state’s two-week average is 93 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 1.7%.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:

Lana‘i: 111
Moloka‘i: 34

Out-of-State: 979
A total of 2,023 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 467 people have died.
To date, more than 870,000 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide, per DOH statistics.
