Hawai‘i Energy is welcoming a new member to its leadership team. Stephany Vaioleti has been appointed accessibility and affordability manager, the company announced last week.
Vaioleti will oversee strategic planning for programs, campaigns and activities focused on Hawai‘i’s Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) populations that have historically been underserved or under-participated, including in the area of energy efficiency. She will also manage the organization’s EmPOWER Program, a Hawaiʻi Energy initiative to help nonprofits reduce their facilities’ energy costs.
“As we strive to achieve our mission of educating and empowering the people of Hawai‘i to make smarter energy choices, we have found that it has been extremely difficult for the ALICE population to be engaged and able to participate based on their limited income and the fact that so many are living paycheck-to-paycheck,” said Brian Kealoha, executive director of Hawaiʻi Energy. “With Stephany’s extensive experience in community outreach and engagement, we are confident that she will help us navigate the underserviced population of our community which includes both the ALICE population and nonprofits. Stephany will definitely be an excellent addition to our team and we look forward to welcoming her to the Hawai’i Energy ‘ohana.”

Vaioleti comes to Hawaiʻi Energy from HMSA where she was the senior vice president responsible for member operations. She formerly served as the chief executive officer of Kahuku Medical Center (KMC) where she spent nearly 20 years holding multiple positions. In addition, Vaioleti has also served as an adjunct faculty practicum advisor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and Hawaii Pacific University and Brigham Young University – Hawaii.
Vaioleti earned her Juris Doctor from the William Richardson School of Law and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is a Licensed Social Worker from the National Association of Social Workers for Hawaii and is a certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2015, Vaioleti was an Omidyar Fellow of Cohort III and a Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Scholar of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
A honolulu resident, Vaioleti currently sits on the boards of the Koʻolauloa Health and Wellness Center and Hospice Hawaii.
