Locally adapted, low maintenance and accommodating for beneficial organisms—these are some of the benefits of incorporating native plants into a home garden and landscape.

Instructor Zach Mermel of Ola Design Group will present “Landscaping with Native Hawaiian Plants” on Saturday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Volcano Art Center’s (VAC) Ni‘aulani Campus in Volcano Village.

This hands-on workshop will engage participants with a variety of native plants found throughout Hawai‘i Island’s various microclimates, and how to integrate them into a home ecosystem.
