An 8.2 magnitude earthquake has occurred near Fiji with the following preliminary parameters:
ORIGIN TIME – 0220 PM HST 18 AUG 2018
COORDINATES – 18.1 SOUTH 178.0 WEST
LOCATION – FIJI REGION
MAGNITUDE – 8.2 MOMENT
EVALUATION
Based on all available data a destructive Pacific-Wide Tsunami is not expected and there is NO Tsunami Threat to Hawai‘i.
