Larry Joaquin

Larry Joaquin, 68 of Kihei, passed away on July 12, 2018 at Hospice Maui Hale in Wailuku. He was born on December 15, 1949 in Puunene, Maui.
Visitation 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service 11 a.m., burial 2 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park. Larry retired as a bus driver.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Joaquin; daughter, Millicent Giannotto; sons, Steve (Suzette) Joaquin, Lawrence Jimi Joaquin; brother, Augustine (Colleen) Joaquin; sisters, Elizabeth (Benny) Genobia, Ethel (Michael) Rames, Margaret (Glen) Galam; 6 grandchildren, Kayla and Nicole Giannotto, Breeann, Noah, Logan, and Angelina Joaquin.

Norlito Ranchez
January 23, 1963 – July 10, 2018
Norlito M. Ranchez, 55, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on July 10th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 23rd, 1963 in San Antonio, Delfin Albano, Isabela, Philippines. Norlito was a Ground Maintenance worker at the condos of Wailea Elua. He was predeceased by his parents, Pedro and Erlinda Ranchez. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. Ranchez; children, James Caratiquit, Jonathan Ranchez, Norlyn Ranchez, Edilito Ranchez, Kimberly Nicolas, Norlito Ranchez Jr., Kyle Walter Ranchez; siblings, Nestor Ranchez Sr., Nelson Ranchez, Nely Galo, Neriza Galo, Nante Ranchez, Pedro Ranchez Jr., Nervalyn Ranchez, Kay Coughlin, Niranio Ranchez, Neslie Ranchez; grandchildren, Mia Rose Caratiquit
and Kainoa Harrison.Visitation will be held at Norman’s Mortuary on Friday July 20th, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with service to begin at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday July 21st, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haiku. A special heart felt gratitude to the staff of Islands Hospice who had given compassionate care to our father during his time here.
Lionel Amoral
July 29, 1929 – July 10, 2018
Lionel Victor Amoral, 88, of Makawao, HI, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was born in Makawao on July 28, 1929. Lionel was a Truck Driver for Land & Construction; followed by Lawn Mower Operator for the County of Maui where he retired. He was known as “The Sausage Man”; he and his wife owned Lionel & Lorraine’s Sausage House from 1952.He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eva Lorraine Amoral; sons, Lionel Amoral Jr., Ricky Amoral (Renee); daughter, Patty Corden (Dennis); siblings, Richard Amoral, Manuel Amoral, Lorraine Freitas, Lucille Montalvo, Joseph Amoral; 5 grandchildren, Wendy (Ryan), Troy (Jina), Tiffany (Bj), Alicia, Rick; and 3 great-grandchildren, Cianna, Ty, and Nalia. Viewing will be at St. Joseph Church in Makawao on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 am, service at 11:00am, and burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Jamie Tominez
July 22, 1972 – July 5, 2018
Jimmy Rivera Tominez, 45, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on July 05, 2018, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 22, 1972, in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines. Jimmy was a store worker. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Agdinaoay Tominez; his parents Venancio and Leonarda Tominez; brothers and sisters Leonides Tominez (deceased), Joni Tominez (deceased), Jesus Tominez (deceased), Noemi and Jesus Nerona, Jennifer and Jake Apellido; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Christ the King Church with Mass to begin at 7:00 p.m. Services will also be held in the Philippines at a later date.
Magdalen Ho’opi’i
March 7, 1941 – July 4, 2018
Magdalen “Maggie” Ho’opi’i passed away peacefully at her home in Waiehu on July 4th, 2018. She was born on March 7th, 1941 in Wailuku, Maui. Maggie was married to Clarence who served in the Army for 20 years. She traveled the world with him for many years before calling Maui home again. She enjoyed working with the children at Waihe’e School and also worked as an assistant in the library. She later gave all that up to be the best “Mama” to her grandchildren, whom she helped raise.Maggie enjoyed working with all kinds of plants and had the best green thumb. She was a taro farmer, and a very hard worker who could out work the best of us.She is predeceased by her husband Clarence Ho’opi’i and a granddaughter Katelyn Ramos. She survived by Yvonne (John) Medeiros, Michele Ho’opi’i, Lynette (Nelson) Ramos, and Kalani (Dayle) Ho’opi’i; hanai daughter, Tricia Simpson. Maggie was a wonderful “Mama” to 8 grandchildren, Joshua Ho’opi’i, Malia (Sam) Howarth, Makalea (Liz Akau) Medeiros, Nelson (Mercedes) Ramos, Makoa Medeiros, Kapono Ho’opi’i, Isabella Ramos, and Iaukea Ho’opi’i Ampong. She also has 2 great grandchildren Ku’uleialoha Howarth and Makanalei Medeiros. She is survived by Aloysius (Starla) Silva, Bernadette Rocha, Dominic (Cheryl) Silva, Louis – deceased (Barbara) Silva.She was a truly remarkable, strong and kind person with a heart of gold who always put her family first. We know she is happy walking hand in hand again with dad.Visitation will be held at Norman’s Mortuary on Saturday July 28th, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial Service will continue at Maui Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Manuel Garces Pegarido, 69, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on July 02, 2018, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 12, 1949, in Cebu City, Philippines. Manuel was a Customer Service Agent for Philippine Airlines for more than 20 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Pegarido and Filomena Garces. He is survived by his wife, Greta Pegarido; son, Manuel (Christine Mae) Pegarido Jr.; daughter, Tsesume (Rhys Christian) Ocana; brother, Romeo Garces Pegarido; sister, Erlinda Pegarido Tabunag; 4 grandchildren, Rhys Dhustin, Tseska Denyse, Ethan, Alyssa Roni; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 21, 2018 at Holy Rosary Church in Paia; mass to begin at 10:00 a.m.; burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haiku.
Eusebia Cadiente
August 30, 1935 – June 29, 2018
Eusebia Acob Cadiente, 82, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on June 29, 2018, at her home. She was born on August 30, 1935, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Eusebia was a retired trimmer at Maui Land and Pineapple Co. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugenio and Faustina Cadiente and siblings: Perfecta Agonoy, Maria Albano, Crisanta Mendoza, and Victor Cadiente. She is survived by her sisters: Apolonia Aranda, Aurelia Cadiente, and Marina (Cresencio – deceased) Sajor; niece, Leslie (Tony) Bartos; nephew, Nemy (Emy) Agonoy; and many family members.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Norman’s Mortuary with service to begin at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday July 13, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. with service to begin at 11:30 a.m with burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park.
Shirl Peterson
July 26, 1951 – June 25, 2018
Shirl Henry Peterson, of Holualoa, passed away in Kealakekua, Hawaii on June 25, 2018. He was born in Payson Utah July 26, 1951. Shirl proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Forest Ranger at the Uinta National Forest Reserve in Utah before moving to Kailua Kona in 1973. He worked in drywall construction on the Big Island for over 33 years with his family business, Kona Drywall.
He is survived by his loving wife Roslyn; son Jonathan Peterson of Kailua Kona; daughter Kristina Peterson of Holualoa; brother, Ursel Peterson of Mesa, Arizona; sister-in-law Sandy Peterson of Orem, Utah and numerous nieces and nephews. Private services were held.
