Looking Ahead

Trade winds will weaken to gentle to moderate strength today as the ridge to the north is disrupted. High clouds and slightly unstable conditions will continue to spread down the island chain as a disturbance aloft moves overhead from the northwest. Daytime sea breezes will be more prevalent over leeward terrain, where spotty and brief afternoon showers may develop. Trade winds will rebuild on Monday and become breezy by midweek. The lingering disturbance aloft may trigger a few heavier showers over the eastern end of the state on Monday. An increasingly stable trade wind pattern will focus clouds and showers over windward slopes by Tuesday.
