Gov. Ige announces that at the direction of the President of the United States, he has ordered that the United States flag and the Hawai‘i state flag will be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and upon all state offices and agencies as well as the Hawai‘i National Guard in the State of Hawai‘i from dawn until noon on Memorial Day, May 28.

“Let us pause to honor those who have sacrificed their lives defending our freedom and protecting our peace. On Memorial Day, let us remember these heroes with much gratitude,” said Gov. Ige.

The President also proclaims Memorial Day as a day of prayer for permanent peace, and designates the hour beginning at 11 a.m. local time, when Americans might unite in prayer.

In addition, the President asks that Americans observe the National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day, beginning at 3 p.m. local time.
