GoFarm Hawai‘i is starting a new cohort on Hawai‘i Island in Honoka‘a.

Residents are invited to join in on AgXposure, a series of classes and hands-on work days on a variety of local farms on Saturdays in May.

Each week, AgXposure will offer a different type of farming operation experience, including a small-scale, diversified farm in Hakalau and a farm that incorporates youth education, internships and immersion in Hawi.

AgXposure will provide residents the opportunity to hear about challenges local farmers face and successes they enjoy.

For those interested, it is also a chance to see if farming is something you would like to pursue as a business or career and if the GoFarm Hawai‘i Beginning Farmer Training Program is a good fit for you.

Derrick Kiyabu, GoFarm Hawai‘i farm coach, will be available at the end of the workday to explain and answer questions about the GoFarm Hawai‘i AgSchool Program and provide applications for AgSchool, which is scheduled for June 13 through Oct, 6, 2018, with classes on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and workdays on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m on May 5, 12, 19 and 26.
