Hawaiʻi Ranks 3rd in Nation for Community Well-Being
Hawaiʻi is among the top states in the nation for community well-being, according to a new survey released by Gallup-Sharecare this month.
According to the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index, Hawaiʻi ranked third in the nation for 2017, falling just below South Dakota and Vermont. In 2016, Hawaiʻi was ranked first in the nation. Hawaiʻi was in the top four states for the well-being categories of purpose, social and community well-being.
Along with Colorado, the Aloha State holds the distinction of ranking in the top 10 highest well-being states each year since 2008.
The Gallup-Sharecare survey determined well-being according to five factors:
- Purpose: liking what you do each day and being motivated to achieve your goals;
- Social: having supportive relationships and love in your life;
- Financial: managing your economic life to reduce stress and increase security;
- Community: liking where you live, feeling safe, and having pride in your community;
- Physical: having good health and enough energy to get things done daily.
The report included data from more than 2.5 million surveys about how people feel and experience their daily lives from 186 communities in the U.S.
