Flash Flood Watch Extended for Hawaiʻi County

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the Flash Flood Watch for the Big Island until late tonight.

Heavy showers associated with a cold front moving down the island chain could result in flash flooding.

The Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Kona, South Big Island, Big Island North and East, Kohala, Big Island interior and Big Island Summits.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms associated with a slow moving cold front over the Big Island could result in flash flooding.

Heavy rain could become widespread and cause streams to quickly overflow their banks, leading to life threatening flash flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flash Flood Watch for all other counties have been cancelled.
