Friends of Lili‘uokalani Gardens invites photographers to submit images for the 2018 Queen Lili‘uokalani photo calendar. The second-annual contest celebrates the centennial of the iconic Lili‘uokalani Gardens in Hilo, Hawai‘i.

This year’s theme focuses on the beauty of Lili‘uokalani Gardens and its surrounding areas. Proceeds from the 2018 calendar sales will support efforts by Friends of Lili‘uokalani Gardens to improve and beautify the park.

There is no fee to submit photos for the calendar contest. The photographer whose image is chosen to don the calendar cover will receive a free Paradise Helicopters flight with Bruce Omori and Mick Kalber, award-winning volcano photographers. New work is encouraged and images accepted during last year’s contest are not eligible for entry.

Each selected calendar image will appear with a photo credit. Featured photographers in the calendar will receive two free calendars for a full page selection or one free calendar for a side image.

Photographs may be entered in the contest by filling out an entry form and submitting it along with images to Vijay Karai at [email protected]. Images should be formatted to JPEG and sized to 2000 pixels on the longest side. The file should be named with the title of the work and the photographer’s initials.

If an image is selected for inclusion, the photographer will be asked to send a full resolution photo file for printing and a signed release form granting the Friends of Lili‘uokalani Gardens usage rights for the 2018 calendar, as well as current or future use in promoting the calendar. The photographers will retain all rights to their images.
