Areas of Kaloko-Honokōhau Park to Close in September

Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park has announced trail and area closure dates on Sept. 1, 8, 15 and 22. The closures will occur to ensure public safety during the removal of invasive, non-native vegetation in the park using helicopters. All closures will happen from 6 to 11 a.m. as follows:

  • Friday, Sept. 1 – Kaloko: closure of Kaloko Road, Kaloko parking area and Kaloko picnic area.
  • Friday, Sept. 8 – ‘Aimakapā: closure of Visitor center, VC parking, mauka/makai trail.
  • Friday, Sept. 15 – Kaloko: closure of Kaloko road, Kaloko parking area and Kaloko picnic area.
  • Friday, Sept. 22 – ‘Aimakapā: closure of Visitor center, VC parking, mauka/makai trail.
